Final Seattle Climate Rally Update Posted Thursday

Print pagePDF pageEmail page

Because we are finalizing plans and still getting new information, we are revising our final update for the Seattle and other Climate Rallies happening this Sunday, September 21. We will post that update on Thursday.

If you are coming as a “visible vegan” and will join the vegan contingent, please email contact@greenvegans.org  so we can get a rough idea of how many have committed to the Seattle rally. We will have signs both pre-made and blank. We encourage you to bring your own and identify with the organization of your choice. This is a collaborative event to influence environmentalists and climate change advocates about veganism. We have a great opportunity to be visible and advocate as we distribute literature. Green Vegans will have a few organic cotton logo-tees available for marchers at $20 or on a sliding scale that you decide. Thank you for your support100_1801.

UPDATED INFORMATION FOR VEGANS AND OTHERS GOING TO THE SEATTLE CLIMATE CHANGE RALLY

Vegans, other environmentalists, organizations for justice and labor, and people from all walks of life are going to the Seattle Rally to Challenge Climate Change on Sunday, September 21. This rally is linked to a global day of similar events. It is a rare opportunity for the vegan community to have high profile media coverage for our message. The rally begins at 1:00 at the Westlake Mall Park in downtown Seattle. 20140907_184932 VEGANS are asked to show up at 12:15 to pre-event organize and meet and greet a few feet east of the Starbucks Coffee store across the street from the rally. Please bring your own poster board signs but leave one side plain if you want to tape on a Cowspiracy movie poster:

• Twenty Cowspiracy movie posters will be available to mount on your signs—a great visual and conversation opener.
• We will have at least two types of vegan literature specific to climate change for you to pass out or bring your own.
• At 12:15 to 1:00 we will meet at the vegan staging area, say hello to one-another and then ask for a vegan consensus about how we can be most visible as vegans at the rally. The “Cowspiracy” posters will be taped to signs here. There was a march planned for the event but we will get the final word on that after we attend an organizers meeting this Thursday evening.
• All organizations are encouraged to rally under your own identity and bring tables for literature.
• Green Vegans is asking for six people to carry two banners (made by Greener Printer). Please email contact@greenvegans.org for that or passing out vegan climate change literature. If we have your size, banner carriers will get a free organic cotton Green Vegan logo tee-shirt.
• We are looking for any original turtle costumes from the 1999 World Trade Organization (WTO) march and

UPDATE: A large (hopefully) vegan contingent will be at the Bay Area climate rally in Oakland. Here’s their event page:https://www.facebook.com/events/521264274684672/

Vegans everywhere are preparing for these events. We are making sure that climate change activists include the vegan imperative. We and ecosystems will not win on climate change without veganism. On September 21, people in villages, towns, and cities around the world will come together in a call for action. In New York alone over 750 organizations and tens of thousands of people are gathering for a rally and march there as the United Nations convenes to address climate change policy. On the same day vegans in Seattle and everywhere will join them.earthspace

From http://peoplesclimate.org/march/: World leaders are coming to New York City for a UN summit on the climate crisis. UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon is urging governments to support an ambitious global agreement to dramatically reduce global warming pollution.

With our future on the line and the whole world watching, we’ll take a stand to bend the course of history. We’ll take to the streets to demand the world we know is within our reach: a world with an economy that works for people and the planet; a world safe from the ravages of climate change; a world with good jobs, clean air and water, and healthy communities.

The Seattle rally will be at Westlake Plaza, downtown, Sunday, September 21, starting at 1:00 (changed time from 12:00). There will be a march to a nearby location that is TBD. All organizations, vegan and nonvegan, are encouraged to represent their own contingent with banners while individuals can bring their own signs. Use these links to stay updated on the activities in Seattle and also to find more events in the region:

If you are not in Seattle, contact your local vegan organization and check for activities in your area here: http://peoplesclimate.org/march/

If you are happy to carry the two Green Vegans Banners (need 3 – 4 each), please email contact@greenvegans.org. Also, stay tuned for an update about where all vegans and their friends are invited to meet in a specific place very near the rally site. We will finish signs if needed and talk about how we can make the best visual impact and the literature you can pass out at the rally. Please bring your own signs as we may run out at this large event. We and other vegans/organizations will have free literature about the vegan imperative. Green Vegans, to reduce paper consumption, will hand out basic information on a smaller piece of paper that will include links to websites for further information.

There will be tables with information and speakers who will focus the event. This is a great opportunity for everyone including those who want to make it clear that dietary choices must be part of the solution and included in the environmentalist response to climate change.

Said Will Anderson of Green Vegans, “Though there are many new lifestyle changes required for slowing climate change, the science is clear, none is more effective than going vegan.”

Donations are always appreciated to cover our costs and fund campaigns.

ALERT: NW Wolves Face Imminent Death

Print pagePDF pageEmail page

iStock_000008330410XSmallUrgent Alert for NW wolves facing lethal response by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife. Call and email Governor Jay Inslee, Washington State first thing Monday morning, August 25th, or as soon as you can: (360) 902-4111 / governor@gov.wa.gov. Then call and email the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) Director Phil Anderson at 360- 902-2200 / director@dfw.wa.gov.  Ask both of them why they are ignoring ecosystem health by allowing sheep to graze by permit on public lands—also known as ecosystems.

This is what WDFW told the public: http://wdfw.wa.gov/news/aug2014a/.

What followed was this: http://www.biologicaldiversity.org/news/press_releases/2014/wolf-08-23-2014.html . Remember, only veganism prevents this.

Vegans Rally In September Against Climate Change

Print pagePDF pageEmail page

BallardPeppersRevised 8/21/2014

Yesterday, I promised an opportunity for VEGANS to be visible at international rallies and protests against Climate Change in cities around the world. Here are introductory links that explain it: http://peoplesclimate.org/global/?r=credo

http://peoplesclimate.org/march/

The initiator of the national event is 350.org, an organization that refuses to acknowledge the role veganism plays in slowing, then stopping climate change. They and other organizations intend to create the largest gathering in NY City on September 21 (a Sunday) about climate change as the UN debates climate policy. The organizers have recruited a large coalition of organizations for that rally and march. However, they encourage other organizations to create independent events in cities and towns everywhere under your own identities.Yours is a grassroots effort of your own making.

This is a phenomenal opportunity for VEGANS to spread the message that veganism (not vegetarianism) is essential to get immediate results on greenhouse gas reductions, especially methane.

We have two options for these events:

First, you can organize your own event where you live if one has not yet been scheduled. If the event is your vegan production, please invite representatives from nonvegan organizations to speak about climate change and represent themselves. Every vegan should be visible by wearing a vegan tee shirt, buttons, carrying a sign, using decals and bumper-stickers, and displaying vegan organization banners. If these are in short supply, wear a green tee, use what you have and be creative.

Second, if you are joining an event already organized (a list will be posted here tomorrow) please be visible vegans as described above. Ask to speak. MAKE THE VEGAN PRESENCE CLEAR AND COMPELLING. This is a huge opportunity for vegans to educate the public and those reticent organizations that live in fear of the vegan solution.

In both circumstances, communicate: stay on message about veganism. Animal agriculture drives climate change, uses scarce water, and consumes the energy equivalent of countless trains filled with oil and coal rolling through the nation and world. Only people can stop climate change and the best and quickest way to do it is to end animal agriculture. Green Vegans will post talking points here ten days before the event and again five days before.

If you’ve at least a few vegan people, let the media, if present, know you are marching to the nearest meat, egg, and dairy market to get photos and make statements about agriculture and climate change. Lacking media, take photos of yourselves with your veganism on full display. This will be more valuable if you are rallying in front of grocers, including Whole Foods, butcher shops, and any enterprise that exploits other species. Send your pictures to contact@greenvegans.org. We will post them on our website and Facebook page where you can share them with others through social media.

Of course, check your local government for permitting or other requirements. VEGANS are making veganism relevant to climate change and related issues. We have four weeks to make it real. Email us at contact@greenvegans.org today. We will help you to connect with people and events. Please share your plans and photos to Green Vegans. We will post them on our websites/Facebook pages/Twitter for all vegans to use. Also, we will submit them to the organizers who are fond of publishing event organizers on their international web pages.

From the main organizers’ webpage: This is an invitation to change everything. In September, world leaders are coming to New York City for a UN summit on the climate crisis. UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon is urging governments to support an ambitious global agreement to dramatically reduce global warming pollution…. With our future on the line and the whole world watching, we’ll take a stand to bend the course of history. We’ll take to the streets to demand the world we know is within our reach: a world with an economy that works for people and the planet; a world safe from the ravages of climate change; a world with good jobs, clean air and water, and healthy communities…From divestment actions in Europe to marches against coal in India and anti-fracking meetups in Latin America, we will be shedding light on featured campaigns and local struggles across the planet.

Visible Vegans must be at these rallies to make certain the voices of animals and the impacts of animal agriculture in its creation of climate change are heard. THAT WILL NOT HAPPEN WITHOUT VEGANS BEING PRESENT. As part of the Vegan Visibility Campaign, Green vegans in Seattle has already applied to be a hub for an event through the global initiators—but for Seattle only. (Update: another organization or person(s) have posted that they are in the process of organizing an event, which is good. We are awaiting a response from them and will post another update when we have one.

You are encouraged to represent your own organization. However, Green Vegans needs $2,000 in DONATIONS TO CARRY IT OFF if we are to have a highly visible event. Fewer donations mean we scale back our presence to banners, tee shirts, and handouts.

Remember, you are free to organize your own events where you live. Make it happen in four weeks. This is an opportunity and challenge Earth and the suffering individuals from other species need us to accept. Organize.

A Lack of Moral Clarity at Sochi Olympics

Print pagePDF pageEmail page

safe_image To host the Sochi Olympics, Russian President Putin’s abuses his power and supports the killing and imprisonment of many species. He and his government are persecuting sexual minorities, capturing orca and beluga whales from the wild, and importing dolphins captured in the larger slaughter at Taiji, Japan—some of who are in Russian captivity along with wild-caught juvenile beluga whales. Putin and his government also endorse the slaughter of stray dogs in Sochi, and now, the arrest of three “animal rights” activists who oppose his actions (see the petition on our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/GreenVegans?ref=hl). This demands our response. Green Vegans implore you to boycott the games and the media (especially NBC and its sponsors) that broadcast them. It’s time to stop pretending that the Olympics should ever be used as an excuse to kill and imprison others. These Olympics have come to represent injustice and murder.

This is also an opportunity to demonstrate to importance of seeing the connections between these travesties. They are all connected by the same worldviews that approve of each persecution. This is representative of our human ecology and how the Seven Results we advocate are required as a whole, again because they are interconnected. So, please revisit the Seven Results page on this, our Green Vegans website.

Green Vegans cancelled its earlier plans to hold a demonstration at the Japanese and Russian consulates in Seattle to protest all of these issues after learning that Sea Shepherd had plans to sponsor an international day of protest a few weeks later. Though apparently limited to the Taiji dolphin slaughter and captures for the marine park entertainment industry, all people and organizations have been invited to participate. We urge all Green Vegans to attend. http://www.seashepherd.org/news-and-media/2014/02/03/join-sea-shepherd-conservation-society-and-sea-shepherd-cove-guardians-at-world-love-for-dolphins-da-1551

20140205_112955 Here is the “tank” we had planned to use for our original Seattle area protest.

Because the Russian orca and beluga whale captures still need the public’s attention, monitor the Green Vegans Facebook page for our upcoming response at the Russian consulate.

Here are the 2014 – 2015 campaigns. Go to the “Campaigns” dropdown menue above to see the complete descriptions and updates from last year.

WhalesWe will return to the International Whaling Commission (IWC) in September, 2014 (more on that below) contingent on funding. In addition, we will continue to work on behalf of whales in 2014-15 in these specific areas:

Humpback Whales

n_v10ag496skx0486_b

Green Vegans is opposing the effort underway to remove the North Pacific humpback whale protections under the Endangered Species Act. As noted in the U.S. Federal Register, “The petition was submitted in April 2013 by the Hawaii Fishermen’s Alliance for Conservation and Tradition (HFACT) and asks for the identification of North Pacific humpback whales as a distinct population segment (DPS) and a delisting of that DPS under the Endangered Species Act (ESA).” (photo Humpback whale / Will Anderson)

Gray Whales

We are focused on two areas of gray whale protection in addition to our activities at the IWC: (a) Makah tribal whaling against a sub-population of 200 genetically distinct Eastern North Pacific gray whales. They are often referred to as the Washington/Southern Vancouver Island (WA/SVI) gray whales. (b) There is a seasonal population of 10 – 12 gray whales, the NPS gray whales, who forage in Northern Puget Sound for a few months and then leave, possibly joining the larger population south of Kodiak Island, Alaska. Their habitat is under threat from a number of sources and activities. (photo Gray whale / Will Anderson)

Farmed Animal Transport

iStock_000008012723Small

Washington State transports farmed individuals from other species within the state and from other states. They are often on their way to a slaughterhouse or auction for slaughter. Sometimes, they are being moved to a different animal agriculture business to “finish” them off in a confined animal feedlot and fed corn, alfalfa, and other resource-wasting crops. Green Vegans is looking for volunteers to monitor farmed animal transport in Washington and Oregon. This is observation at a distance on public roads. Two-person teams are required (driving / taking notes on a form we provide).

Battery Reduction-Focus

Green Vegans has identified a specific product that uses countless batteries in public facilities. You’ve seen and likely have used them: the automatic paper-dispenser machines you often see in public restrooms at gas stations, malls, and stores in general. Those we have inspected contain four size “D” batteries. We are surveying the major machine-makers about recycling those batteries, and other options.

Active Opposition to the Incremental Welfare Reforms that keep animal agriculture profitable

iStock_000007074878XSmall

Several national “animal welfare” organizations have taken incremental reforms to the extreme. They are funding production-for-slaughter agribusiness, and partnering with major meat retailers. They are humane and green-washing meat, dairy, and egg production and  consumption. Green Vegans is actively participating in the growing opposition to this wrongheaded, environmentally unsustainable, cruel strategy. We and others are organizing to maximize effectiveness.

Meatopia Alarm System

20130524_072929

You may have heard about an event called “Meatopia”, a multi-city event initiated by Josh Ozersky. The largest Meatopias to-date are in New York City (Hudson, NY in 2014); San Antonio, TX, and London, UK. During the past few years “Whole Foods” has been an active sponsor and participant. They have supplied the meat in many instances, while their store butchers are sponsored as contestants in butchery. The Green Vegans campaign will focus on the Whole Foods Meatopia events held at its store locations. Green Vegans missed the Seattle Whole Foods Meatopia on 15th Avenue NE by just one day in 2013. All that remained standing was the banner in the parking lot.

Using social media, anyone finding an upcoming or imminent Meatopia event will SOUND THE ALARM. You will tell Green Vegans and the local animal advocacy group if known.

Wildlife and Ecosystems Management Reform

iStock_000008330410XSmall

Wildlife management and ecosystems oversight is within the jurisdiction of several state and federal agencies in the U.S. They are absurdly cruel and harm ecosystems because they serve a small minority of hunters, fishers, trappers, and the immense animal agricultural industry. Everyone who lives a vegan lifestyle along with the rest of the new human ecology reduces the excuses those agencies make to justify their wanton cruelty and lack of long-term ecological effectiveness. This will be a long, multi-year campaign that seeks to motivate other organizations to challenge the status quo. Here are our 2014-15 goals for this section: Stop State Agencies from promoting invasive species; Change Name and Legislated Mission of WDFW (test state, Oregon also if funding permits); Active Opposition to Bow Hunting / Muzzle-Loader Hunting; Wolves.

Chickens

iStock_000012708963XSmall

The U.S. Senate and House of Representatives are still considering “the rotten egg bill” that would condemn nine billion chickens to continued suffering. This incremental reform bill that would take up to eighteen years to fully implement would block everyone in every state from implementing better reforms and bans. Some major animal welfare organizations are pushing hard for passage of this legislation and have split the community with their radical strategy that denies all other activists the right to stop continuing abuses, cruelty, and killing. In 2012, Green Vegans campaigned against the ritual Kaporos in which chickens suffer. We will return to this issue for 2014 if the budget allows.

International Whaling Commission 2014 (IWC)

iwc

The next biennial International Whaling Commission (IWC) Meeting will be held 15-18 September, 2014 at the invitation of the Government of Slovenia, on the Adriatic coast at Portoroz.  The sub-committee meetings will take place from 11-14 September.  As in 2012, Green Vegans intends on sending an experienced three-person team for a week of on-site work. Of the three Green Vegans representatives, this will be our second, fourth, and ninth IWC meeting. This is our most expensive campaign. See our 2012 report for background. The biennial IWC meeting is a high-level, government-to-government convention that saves more, or kills more whales depending upon which side wins the votes. There are no other vegan environmental organizations represented. As a repeat, registered organization, Green Vegans has access to lobby the national delegations who operate at the State Department level. When they vote to save whales and create whale sanctuaries, Earth’s whales are saved. Progress in this forum is never easy. Though we will hold a separate fundraising event for this campaign, please pledge now. Most effective now would be a matching-grant donation.

Road Barriers

index

Road barriers are the sections of concrete wall that run between lanes of opposing traffic on interstate highways. They are safety dividers for vehicles and their occupants that can stretch for miles without interruption. Studies about some of their impacts on wildlife have been contradictory. This issue is not getting enough attention. These barriers must be modified to allow wildlife passage. We have a proposal applicable to many places where these barriers are placed but first Green Vegans will need to update its library of studies. Then, Green Vegans will present a petition for changes to barrier systems to state and federal agencies based on those studies. This is about preventing pain, terror, suffering and reducing environmental impacts that include habitat fragmentation.

Birds versus Glass

West-8th-Full-building

This is an important issue currently on our website but American Bird Conservancy (ABC) is doing the best job of reforming, city by city, the architectural building standards that currently allow buildings to have reflective glass on their exteriors. Seeing the sky reflected on building exteriors, birds continue forward and slam into the hard surface, falling to their deaths. Hundreds of millions, perhaps a billion birds in North America alone are killed by reflective building exteriors. A related issue is urban lighting that attracts and confuses migrating birds. From a past conversation, ABC was interested in Green Vegan’s help for Seattle but we didn’t have the funds to follow through. We will be contacting them for a reassessment when we get the donations needed.

Operations Budget

The Green Vegans office is based in the home offices of board members. We utilize online technology so our educational materials are normally not printed. Board members have donated most of the office supplies and communication functions, and all administrative tasks excepting legal. We do need to pay for website maintenance, hosting, business and corporate licensing and reporting, postage/shipping, and at this point, need travel reimbursement.

Taiji Dolphin Slaughter Update – two additional actions

Print pagePDF pageEmail page

Sea Shepherd Cove Guardians and CNN, are reporting that the Taiji slaughter of dolphins is finished for this particular capture. Though the figures of dolphins killed and those sold into slavery to aquariums for “entertainment” differ between the two reports, Sea Shepherd’s numbers were specific while CNN’s vague and quoted from Tokyo sources.

Lolita Killer Whale

Additional Actions to take: After reading the Sea Shepherd accounting (below), and the evidence presented by Rick O’Barry of the Dolphin Project that these kills are not 400 year-old traditions please take these two additional actions. It is still important to let the Japanese government know you are not forgetting this barbaric travesty. So, in addition to yesterdays Action steps, please email your protest directly to Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s government: https://www.kantei.go.jp/foreign/forms/comment_ssl.html You will see a form to fill in. Then, send a note to Gerald Dick the CEO of the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums. He could end future captures and killings enforcing WAZA’s code of ethics: Dr. Gerald Dick / gerald.dick@waza.org

Reports / Documentation from Taiji 2014

Sea Shepherd Cove Guardians describes the scene on 21 January 2014:

“For the fifth straight day the killers of Taiji, Japan inflicted further pain and suffering on 42 of the 250 Bottlenose dolphins that were herded into the cove. After the killers arrived at daybreak they pushed the first Bottlenose dolphin pod to the killing shore with the same inhumane muscle and force typical in Taiji. Unfortunately, however, the pod that fought so hard in the previous days was unable fight from lack of food, exhaustion, and injuries sustained from killers and motors over the last five days. …

… A total of 93 Bottlenose dolphins were taken from the ocean in the past 5 days by the barbaric killers and trainers of Taiji, Japan. The killers claim the barbaric drive, starvation, beating, and murdering of dolphins is their culture. However, they continue to try and hide their actions and make millions of dollars off of the captive industry that is used for funding the slaughter. Total: 52 captives / 41 deaths / 130-140 driven back out to sea.” https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.279034838913420.1073741883.109164785900427&type=1

From the Dolphin Project, correcting history

Unfortunately, media continue to not challenge the Japan government’s propaganda that this is an ancient cultural tradition. From Dolphin Project’s Rick O’Berry we’ve excerpted part of their 20 January media release: “Taiji Dolphin Hunt Not a Tradition”.

Claims being made by the Japanese government to the media and the public that the Taiji dolphin drive hunts, … are part of Japan’s “traditional culture” are completely false.  …

One of Japan’s foremost defenders of the dolphins, our colleague Sakae Hemmi of the Elsa Nature Conservancy of Japan, submitted a letter a few weeks ago to Dr. Gerald Dick, Executive Director of the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA), which includes as a member the Japan Association of Zoos and Aquariums (JAZA), one of whose members is the Taiji Whale Museum, which brokers dolphins from the dolphin hunts around the world.

Dr. Dick responded to Elsa stating that WAZA would not take action against the hunts:  “As you know, in some Japanese communities these drives have been part of the culture for centuries.”  This same false claim is now being made to the media by the Japanese government.

“This claim of ‘Japanese tradition’ is nonsense,” stated Ric O’Barry, Director of Earth Island’s Dolphin Project. “The dolphin drive hunts, according to the town’s own written history, says a couple of drive hunts occurred in 1936 and 1944, but the current series of hunts only began in 1969.”

Ms. Hemmi has replied… “In fact, the history of dolphin hunting in Taiji is short. According to The History of Taiji, edited and published by Taiji town in 1979, the first recorded dolphin drive was in 1933, with subsequent hunts occurring in 1936 and 1944. It was not until 1969 that dolphin drives have been conducted on a large scale. The history of the dolphin drives spans not so-called 400 years, but a mere 45. Furthermore, in 1969, the main goal of the dolphin drive was to capture pilot whales as prized showpieces for the Taiji Whale Museum. In other words, the dolphin drive was purely for profit, having nothing to do with cultural history.” See more at http://savejapandolphins.org/blog/post/taiji-dolphin-drive-hunt-is-not-a-tradition

Green Vegans thanks the many people and their organizations who had to bear witness to this butchery so that the world would have eyes.

Taiji Dolphin Slaughter Action Alert

Print pagePDF pageEmail page

The Japanese “Cove” killing grounds remain active at Taiji, Japan. Currently, over 250 dolphins have been scared into a series of small netted cages. They’ve not eaten for over three days. As of this writing, the Taiji fishers are selecting dolphins for imprisonment in aquaria entertainment businesses around the world. The butchering of the remaining dolphins, entire pods and calves, seems certain to begin soon, perhaps tomorrow, 21 January, 2014. Here is today’s coverage by CNN. Difficult to watch but motivating our responses. http://www.cnn.com/2014/01/20/world/asia/japan-dolphin-hunt//   and in print http://www.independent.co.uk/environment/nature/this-slaughter-is-lawful-says-japan-more-than-200-dolphins-trapped-in-a-remote-bay-are-expected-to-be-killed-by-hunters-9073079.html

Though Japanese consulates are closed today in the U.S. for Martin Luther King Day (Freedom, ironically),  the Seattle office is oddly closed on Tuesday, 21 January as well though there are no Japanese holidays then. Perhaps there’s a Taiji connection, perhaps not. The San Francisco consulate phone recording makes no mention of being closed on Tuesday, 21 January. So be certain to call the Japanese Washington, DC embassy, and consulates everywhere first thing Tuesday, 21 January. Those of you living outside of the U.S. can also make repeated calls to the embassy of Japan in your country. Be certain to also call Japanese consulates located in smaller cities. Keep trying until you get a live person. You can find contact information for Japanese embassies and consulates around the world here: http://www.us.emb-japan.go.jp/jicc/consulate-guide.html

The Seattle consulate phone number is 206.682.9107. They are closed daily from 11:30 to 1:00. We are attempting a Seattle rally response on short notice so bear with us. Given the holiday and timing of the slaughter, this makes your phone calls very important.

Next, email the U.S. Ambassador to Japan, Caroline Kennedy, to thank her for her outspoken Tweet that criticized the Taiji killings. “Caroline Kennedy, the recently installed U.S. ambassador to Japan, tweeted that she is ‘deeply concerned by in humaneness of drive hunt dolphin killing.’” (CNN, 1/20/2014) Go to http://japan2.usembassy.gov/e/info/tinfo-email.html

This is the petition we are seeing most at present but there may be more. http://links.causes.com/s/clOHdD

We will post updates on the Green Vegans website, www.greenvegans.org and on our Facebook page.

Please don’t wait. Respond now. Share this information using social media to create more opposition and outrage against the Taiji dolphin slaughter. Thank you.

Congratulations! Idaho Wolf and Coyote UPDATE

Print pagePDF pageEmail page

iStock_000008330410XSmallYour calls and emails are having the desired effect. The only national sponsor of the “First Annual 2-Day Wolf and Coyote Derby” was NAPA (Auto Parts). They have withdrawn their sponsorship. Agencies and sponsors are being flooded with calls from all over the world. In one instance alone, our Tweet regarding Alert #2 was forwarded to 34,000 people. As you’ve seen, other organizations are having a profound impact as well with their parallel alerts.

Feel free to call and thank NAPA for withdrawing from sponsorship of the slaughter by using the contact information you’ll find in Alert #2 at www.greenvegans.org.
